The Seattle Seahawks are inching closer to the end of their 2025 NFL draft. So far, general manager John Schneider has been nearly flawless with his selections. He had at least three high-end prospects at their respective positions, and he also took a quarterback. That was all before Day 3.
In recent history, though, Schneider and the Seahawks have struck gold in the final three rounds of the draft. Richard Sherman is likely a future Pro Football Hall of Famer and was taken in the fifth round in 2011. Kam Chancellor was a fifth-rounder in 2010. Riq Woolen was chosen in the same round in 2022.
In other words, Seattle knows what they are doing when it comes to the final three rounds of the draft. If there have been issues, it has been chiefly with what happened in rounds one or two. The Seahawks chose tight end Robbie Ouzts out of Alabama with one of their two picks in the fifth round in 2025, and he could easily be another winner.
Robbie Ouzts could be another fifth-round steal for Seahawks' John Schneider
Under head coach Mike Macdonald, any player, no matter if the player is a rookie or a long-time veteran, can earn playing time. Coby Bryant, for instance, did not get much of a shot to play in his first couple of seasons, partly because of injury, but he made the most out of his opportunity in 2024 and is a projected starter at safety in 2025.
Ouzts is more of a blocker than receiver, but Seattle already chose a pure receiving tight end earlier in the draft in Elijah Arroyo. Ouzts is a great fit in Klint Kubiak's offense, as he can be a force in the run game and likely improve as a pass catcher. He could have a 10-year career in the league, and he has sneaky good athleticism.
Seattle still has a couple of picks remaining in the 2025 draft, but regardless of what happens next, this year's draft has been a huge win for the Seahawks and should benefit them well into the future. If third-round pick Jalen Milroe turns out well, this draft could rival the one from 2012.
