To say the Seattle Seahawks have gotten off to a disappointing start to the season wouldn't tell half the story. Mike Macdonald's team could've (and should've) been undefeated by now, but unforced errors keep standing in their way.
That said, it's only been six weeks, and this team has already shown that they can get hot in the blink of an eye. The defensive effort has been there, and it's all about fine-tuning a couple of things on the other side of the ball.
Considering that, plus the big picture in the NFC West, it's still way too early to count out the defending Super Bowl champions. Not convinced? Let's take a look at the updated divisional power rankings.
NFC West power rankings: Seattle Seahawks can still come on top
4. Los Angeles Rams (2-4)
Yes, the almighty Los Angeles Rams are officially the worst team in the NFC West. Not only have they lost both of their divisional games (including a home bout with the Cardinals), but they will now be without multiple players for the long run.
Sean McVay's team can't get out of its own way, and things won't get much easier without Davante Adams. Aaron Donald must be having second thoughts about that comeback... Maybe he'll get back to chilling on the couch?
3. Arizona Cardinals (2-4)
What separates the Arizona Cardinals from the Rams is simple: Expectations. No one expected Mike LaFleur's team to be competitive, and they may have already started their fire sale with Marvin Harrison Jr. Even so, they've won as many games as McVay's super team.
Of course, it's highly unlikely that they will win many more games going forward. They can't get stops on defense, and they're probably going to part ways with veterans like Josh Sweat and Budda Baker at some point.
2. Seattle Seahawks (3-3)
Sam Darnold has officially become a problem. He's by no means the only problem with Brian Fleury's offense, but he's certainly the biggest and most glaring. Of course, that doesn't mean the Seahawks will bench him.
What they can do, however, is fix what's broken around him. This team desperately needs an efficient running game to help Darnold limit mistakes and not put the ball at risk as often, not to mention getting going on first and second down.
The Seahawks still have the best defense in football, though they can probably use an upgrade at Josh Jobe. Whatever the case, as disappointing as this start to the season has been, the sky isn't falling.
1. San Francisco 49ers (6-0)
The San Francisco 49ers remain undefeated, and that includes a big win over the Seahawks. That said, their 6-0 record is somewhat misleading. That game against Seattle was the only tough challenge they've faced thus far.
Kyle Shanahan and company still deserve plenty of credit for taking care of business despite their never-ending injury issues. As to whether they're a 6-0-caliber team, it feels like they're in for a rude awakening.
