2024 NFL Draft odds: Seahawks projected to pick offensive lineman in first round
By Reed Wallach
The Seahawks narrowly missed the postseason in 2023, but will look to return in 2024 with a bolstered roster.
That starts at pick No. 16, the Seahawks first pick in the draft. While the team may take plenty of different routes under first year head coach Mike Macdonald, offensive line has been pegged as the most likely route.
Over at FanDuel Sportsbook, offensive line is the favorite to be the position of the Seahawks first draft pick as an odds on chalk. Behind that is defensive line (or edge) with a far gap until the next position.
Picking at No. 16, the board could open up for the Seahawks to go best player available, but without a glaring need, the team can instead target best player available, leaving some high variance outcomes at times.
Rob Staton of SeahawksDraftBlog.com noted that the Seahawks have been aggressive in terms of plugging necessary holes in the roster during the likes of free agency, giving the team flexibility in this draft to target its favorite prospect, which could be offensive line or edge rusher.
While Stanton highlights a bunch of different scenarios and draft prospects that could be on Seattle’s radar, he also mentions the idea of selecting Michael Penix Jr. at No. 16, being the successor to Geno Smith at quarterback. As of now, quarterback is the third choice at +1300 to be the position of the first draft pick.
About a week out, here’s the updated odds with the focus being on the trenches, but other candidates in the mix for what position the Seahawks will use its first pick.
