Earlier this week, I got the chance to sit down with Seattle Seahawks legend and member of the Legion of Boom, Cliff Avril, to talk about a variety of topics including his Super Bowl 48, the perception of Russell Wilson, and whether or not the Legion of Boom could have stopped the Tush Push.
So, does he think the Legion of Boom could have stopped the play that seems to be unstoppable this season?
"I think it's tough. It's actually unfair because on defense you can't ever push a defensive lineman or anything like that. I think we would win more than the majority, but that's just an extremely hard play. We're talking about it's already 600 pounds of offensive lineman then you put another 250-pound guy behind them to push the pile over, it just makes it difficult but I do think we probably would've stopped it more than the average [team] but it'd be hard to stop it for sure."
So, the natural follow up question was whether or not the play should be banned.
"It's fantasy football, it's high-scoring offense, that's the 'wow' factor. They'll never change it, per say, they might make a little bit of a change to it but the fact it's for the offense to be able to keep moving the ball down the field, I could see them keeping it for a few more years."
Be sure to watch the full interview above where Cliff gives his thoughts on the perception of Russell Wilson, how the Seahawks stayed motivated during their Super Bowl win, Frank Clark's return to the Seahawks, and more!
