The Seahawks could win big if Cooper Kupp is out in Week 1.

The Seattle Seahawks may be in a favorable spot in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, as Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Kupp may be facing an uphill battle to play in Week 1, and oddsmakers have adjusted the spread for the Seahawks-Rams game, moving Seattle from a 4.5-point favorite to a 5.5-point favorite.

Seattle is already expected to finish above the Rams in the standings this season, and it could make quick work of L.A. if Kupp is unable to go.

Rams vs. Seahawks odds, spread and total

Cooper Kupp injury impacts Seahawks-Rams spread

Kupp is one of the best offensive weapons in football, tallying 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns in the 2021 season before putting up 812 receiving yards in nine games last season.

The Rams’ offense fell off badly with Kupp hurt in 2022, and it seems like oddsmakers are bracing for that again in 2023 if he can’t play in Week 1.

The Seahawks have a great young quarterback duo in Tariq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon, who should have a field day if Kupp isn’t running rampant in the secondary.

Seattle is usually a great home team because of the environment created at Lumen Field, so I don’t mind playing this 5.5-point spread if Kupp does end up sitting.
