DK Metcalf fights but Jake Bobo is the story on day 13 of Seahawks training camp

Things got a bit "spirited" at Seahawks training camp on Wednesday, but Jake Bobo came away the winner.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Brown must have woken up on the proverbial wrong side of the bed on Wednesday morning. The corner has a great chance at being a starter for Seattle in 2024, but in practice, he got into not one but two fights. Oddly, he chose two of the bigger Seattle receivers in which to do that.

The first was with Jake Bobo who had his helmet off. Brown and Bobo traded a few punches with one of Brown's landing on Bobo's face. Neither player was injured, fortunately.

Brown later got into a scuffle with DK Metcalf (which you can kind of see here in this blurry video) and Metcalf took off Brown's helmet and swung it in the direction of Brown. Instead, Metcalf hit safety K'Von Wallace on the head, but Wallace had one of the large padded helmets on so he was also apparently not hurt.

DK Metcalf fights in Seahawks training camp, but Jake Bobo wins the day

ESPN reported that there were "at least five fights" that broke out at practice on Wednesday, but this seemed to be a bit off. Others reported that there were more like three fights. However, that is still a fairly large number of heated arguments that turn physical. Maybe these are just the end of training camp tensions running high.

Head coach Mike Macdonald believes so. He told the NFL Network, "I think we're tired of going against one another, you know. But the guys are spirited...Definitely don't want people fighting out here and stuff, and especially against our own teammates. And then DK gave a great message at the end of practice, just kind of putting everything in perspective. The guys finished it out the right way. So proud of our guys."

The biggest winner of the day, except for getting punched in the face, was Bobo. After the fight with Brown, the receiver continued having the great camp he has been having. He caught two touchdown passes, one on a deep pass where he got wide open, and the other in traffic. The undrafted free agent in 2023 was surprisingly well-rounded as a rookie, but he seems set to be much more productive as a receiver in 2024.

He certainly is not going to be a starter because the Seahawks have Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. There is little doubt that Bobo is WR4, however. He only had 25 targets last year - and from Week 12 on, he only had one game where he got more than one - but that could jump to 40 or more this season.

Bobo showed on Wednesday what he has been proving all training camp. He might not be blazing fast, but he is sure-handed and knows how to get open. He could be a great red-zone weapon this year.
