There could have rightfully been some question about whether the Seattle Seahawks would hold out some players because they have such a short week after playing the New York Giants on Sunday in Week 5. After all, Seattle has to play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football, and that game is much more important. Seattle could have just rested players.

Maybe it was because Week 4 was so horrific against the Detroit Lions defensively that Seattle chose not to rest players against the Giants. After all, every win counts, no matter how big or small. Should Seattle lose the 49ers and beat the Giants, Seattle would still statistically be in first place in the NFC West.

Plus, the Giants will be without rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has been terrific in the first part of the season. Nabers leads the NFL in catches and targets and is second in receiving yards. Without him, the Giants are a diminished football team offensively and Seattle should attack. But they need to be healthy enough to do so.

Seahawks have a great injury report for Week 5 versus the Giants

Well, good news, 12s! Seattle seems pretty healthy going up against the Giants. Only Byron Murphy II and Cam Young have been ruled out. Murphy is expected to miss some time with a hamstring injury, and while he was excellent through the first three games of the season, his absence can be overcome.

Young is only a backup who didn't play a lot last season as a rookie and hasn't played at all this year. In other words, his absence means nothing. No offense to Mr. Young.

Two players are listed as questionable - Boye Mafe and Julian Love. The bad news would be that if Mafe cannot go, Seattle will be missing their most productive edge rusher this year. Love was playing like a Pro Bowler before suffering a thigh injury in Week 4, but hopefully, he can make it back.

The good news is that Uchenna Nwosu and Leonard Williams should be fine to play. This would be Nwosu's first playing time of the season. Williams was sorely missed against the Lions.

Seahawks injury designations ahead of Week 5:

  • Defensive tackle Byron Murphy II - out (hamstring)
  • Nose tackle Cam Young - out (knee)
  • Edge rusher Boye Mafe - questionable (knee)
  • Safety Julian Love - questionable (thigh)
