Seahawks defeat the Rams 36-10

I normally don't pick the Seahawks to win. Don't get me wrong. I want them to win, of course - but I am a bit of a jinx. (Hi. Nice to meet you. I write for a website called 12th Man Rising and we write about the Seattle Seahawks - an American football team - 365 days a year because we just dearly love to do so. Oh, great. You've already found us.)

But something about Week 1 of the 2023 season against a diminished Los Angeles Rams team and with the likelihood that their excellent receiver Cooper Kupp will miss the game with an ongoing injury tells me this could be the start of a special September for the Seahawks. A blowout to begin the season doesn't seem to be the Seattle way, but this is a different kind of team for Seattle.

Yes, the team is still dealing with some injuries. Safety Jamal Adams won't play and rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon probably won't either, or not very much. But those two missing Week 1 doesn't mean the team isn't worse off because they haven't had them very much, if at all, through this point before the season. If anything, the team will be better later in the season.

But I feel like the Rams are wobbling into the season (their defense looked awful this preseason), and the Seahawks are still ascending from 2022. Seattle is the better team on paper. I think in Week 1, their defense proves they want to be better this year and the offense is electric and all 12s are happy after the game.
