Prediction No. 3 - DK Metcalf plays and has a huge game

DK Metcalf didn't practice Wednesday and is dealing with some very sore ribs that were hurt when he made a catch over the middle of the field near the goal line in Week 2. Metcalf was able to get up and walk off the field and then walk to the locker room, so at this point, it would appear that as long as Metcalf can endure the pain he should be able to play against Carolina. And I don't mean that as any form of disrespect because bruised ribs are no joke.

But DK Metcalf likes a challenge. He has had some of his best games against high-end cornerbacks, and 12s all know how fantastic Metcalf has been in the playoffs. Just last year against the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round, Seattle struggled overall but Metcalf didn't. He had 10 catches for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns.

One reason to hold Metcalf out of practice this week is there is simply no reason to risk him getting hit by one of his own guys and being in even more pain. He obviously knows the offense and he and Geno Smith have played enough together where timing should not be a concern. Metcalf might not practice all week, or be limited, and still be full-go on Sunday.

I think Metcalf does play against the Panthers and has a big game. Carolina will be without cornerback Jaycee Horn and the Panthers don't have anyone who really matches up with Metcalf. Seattle hasn't gone deep many times this year, but I believe that changes in Week 3, and Metcalf catches two long passes and breaks 100 yards receiving in a game for the first time this year.
