The first Seahawks preseason game is in the books. Seattle overcame a 10-0 early deficit to win 24-13. While you need to be careful making declarations after the first preseason game, it was apparent the Seahawks' pass rush had a little more juice from their promising youngsters.

The game as a whole had an energy that we haven't seen in years from this franchise, and the defensive line was the main reason why. The front line of the defense wreaked havoc on the Vikings' offense as they caused two sacks, eight QB hits, and plenty of pressures, it was a refreshing sight to see.

I saw noticeable growth from Boye Mafe, some flashes of star power from edge rusher Derick Hall and the suddenly enormous defensive end Mike Morris, and the aggression and desperation from Levi Bell who's trying to make a name for himself.

Seattle Seahawks should make this huge trade before Week 1

It was an impressive night, especially when you consider a) the impact BT Jordan is having as the pass rush specialist coach, and b) how this D-line will look when we also see Uchenna Nwosu, Darrell Taylor, Dre'Mont Jones, and even Jamal Adams attacking the opposing QB. Things should only get better when the real games begin.

This offense will be good enough to be a real thorn in the side of NFC powers in the Eagles, Cowboys, and 49ers. To become a true threat to their Super Bowl hopes, and to have legitimate aspirations to get to Las Vegas this February, the defense has to make a jump. With all the returning players and new additions, I believe the Seahawks are close. To truly make the leap, though, Pete Carroll and John Schneider should consider making the following franchise-altering trade.
