Seahawks fans take to social media to vent their rage about Anthony Bradford
By Lee Vowell
Anthony Bradford has been terrible at right guard for the Seattle Seahawks since he was drafted in 2023. He split time at the position with Phil Haynes last season - Haynes was also terrible - and in 419 pass-block snaps, Bradford allowed 28 pressures. He also had four penalties.
This season, Bradford must have turned to his teammates and said, "Hold my beer." Somehow, Bradford has taken over the full-time starting spot at right guard and has been even worse than last year. He already has seven penalties called against him and one of those led to a safety in Week 1. Seattle also had another safety against them in the season opener and that was Bradford's fault too.
In 115 pass-block snaps in 2024, Bradford has allowed two sacks (one more than in 2023) and eight total pressures. His poor play will not lead to sustainable success for the Seahawks' offensive line. He needs to be replaced and 12s know it. So far, the Seahawks' coaches don't seem to be aware of that.
Seahawks fans are questioning what dirt one player must have on the team
It is a valid question if not an overly serious one. Clearly, there is no blackmail possibility or dirt Bradford can throw in order to force the team to start him, but any other reason for doing so is also illogical. Bradford was bad last year and he has been just as bad this season.
Surely, rookie Christian Haynes would not be as bad. The team is obviously seeing something in practice they do not like from Haynes because he isn't getting a real chance to replace Bradford yet.
According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Bradford is not the worst guard in the NFL. He is the third-worst guard. So, things could be worse, right? (Sarcasm implied.)
One does have to wonder if Bradford was not playing for the Seahawks if he would be playing for another team. Maybe he is a backup somewhere. He has been so bad that another team adding him to their roster might be a clear attempt to tank the season.
Besides not blocking well, Bradford seems to find new ways each week to take yards away from his team. Six penalties in three games is about five too much. PFF credits Bradford with seven penalties this season which is four more than any other guard.
This might be Seahawks fans' reactions for weeks to come. The only backup Bradford seems to have is Christian Haynes and Haynes is not being given any chance to play. He is a rookie and needs reps to learn how to be good. Maybe he will get those in 2025.
