NFL free agency gets underway - unofficially officially - on Monday. The Seattle Seahawks and every other NFL team can legally tamper with players and work out deals to be signed when the league year begins on Wednesday, March 13. Seattle could work out deals with its own free agents prior to that, of course, but that seems unlikely at this point.
Seattle has a fairly large number of free agents. The team created even more last week by releasing tight end Will Dissly, safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, and defensive tackle Bryan Mone. Seattle now is in the top ten of the league in cap room.
Even though Seattle did make a lot of cap room, they still do not have anywhere near the top four teams. The Seahawks have nearly $55 million heading into free agency, top ten in the league, but the number four team, for instance, is the New England Patriots with $75,390,809. The Washington Commander have $96,088,007. In other words, Seattle will need to be careful with how it spends.
Keeping track of every move by the Seattle Seahawks in 2024 free agency
Seattle's greatest needs in free agency (and in the 2024 NFL draft in April) might be at tight end, safety, linebacker, and along the interior of the offensive line. The main reason for this is that Seattle currently has zero proven veteran tight ends or linebackers on the 2024 roster, and just one safety - Julian Love. The team will need to find answers in free agency but not overspend at the same time.
This article will be updated will all the latest confirmed information on who the Seahawks are signing and who is leaving Seattle. Expect many of their own to leave. But this is where things stand now.
Who are currently the Seahawks' 2024 unrestricted free agents?
Seattle always has a number of free agents, but this year might be a bit ridiculous. 18 players from Seattle in 2023 are set for free agency. This is a little over a third of the active 51-man roster theoretically.
This means the team that 12s see next season is not only going to look different with the coaching staff changeover but also with who is on the field. This could mean Seattle gets off to a little bit of a slow start as players will still be learning to play with one another. But this could also mean an influx of more talent, which, of course, is more important.
Seahawks' unrestricted free agents
S Jamal Adams
LB/RB Nick Bellore
CB Artie Burns (according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Burns is re-signing with Seattle)
S Quandre Diggs
TE Noah Fant (re-signing in Seattle for two years and $21 million)
G Phil Haynes
DT Bryan Mone
T Jason Peters
DE Leonard Williams (re-signing in Seattle for three years with an average of $21.5 million per season)
Of the players listed above, perhaps the two who should have the highest priority of being re-signed are Leonard Williams and Jordyn Brooks. Williams is excellent against the pass and the run and was very good after coming over in a trade midway through 2023. Brooks is a young linebacker who might be capable of greatness under new head coach Mike Macdonald.
Bobby Wagner would be a nice re-sign but he is closer to the end of his career than the beginning and Macdonald might want to go younger. Drew Lock will probably test the open market but Seattle should try to bring him back as well.
Who are the Seattle Seahawks 2024 Restricted Free Agents and Exclusive Rights Free Agents?
Restricted rights free agents can have tenders placed on them if Seattle chooses to do so. For instance, Seattle could place a second-round tender on edge rusher Darrell Taylor (I am not saying they should, only using him as an example) and if another team signs Taylor then Seattle would get a first-round choice back in return. This is extremely unlikely to happen.
Should Taylor stick with Seattle after the tender is placed, he could earn $6,822,000 unless the team tries to work out a longer-term deal with him. A second-round tender works the same way but would only cost Seattle $4,890,000. The last tender option is Right of First Refusal which means Seattle could match any offer. This could cost Seattle $2,985,000 if no one offers a deal to the player with this tender.
Seahawks' restricted and exclusive-rights free agents
T Jake Curhan (RFA)
CB Michael Jackson (RFA) (Tendered offer)
LB Jon Rhattigan (RFA) (Tendered offer)
LB Darrell Taylor (RFA) (Re-signed by Seattle)
DE Myles Adams (ERFA) (Seattle has tendered Adams which means he will remain on the roster for 2024
T McClendon Curtis (ERFA)
T Raiqwon O'Neal (ERFA)
LB Joshua Onujiogu (ERFA)
TE Brady Russell (ERFA)
Of the players above, Seattle should probably try to keep Mike Jackson. He has shown to be good in coverage and a solid tackler. He doesn't force many turnovers, however. Taylor has flashed pass-rush potential but is extremely inconsistent.
2024 free agents signed by the Seattle Seahawks
The league year officially begins on Wednesday, March 13, at 1 pm PT. The legal tampering period began on Monday. Many free agents won't sign until after the first week of free agency so if Seattle has not spent all that much money, that is what they normally do and it is not a concern.
Because lots of places on social media might intentionally mislead or not have the correct information, we will wait to update this list until the reports have been confirmed by reporters who can be trusted. This is the first free agency period since 2010 where general manager John Schneider has had the final say in all roster moves so Seattle may handle free agency a little differently (though that was not the case early in the free agency period for Seattle).
Seattle signed defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins. Hankins is a veteran defensive tackle who should help against the run. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
The #Seahawks are expected to sign veteran DT Johnathan Hankins, source says. Hankins was in for a visit with the team today.

The Seahawks reportedly signed defensive back K'Von Wallace to a one-year deal. He can play either safety spot and got 12 starts in 2023. He has allowed multiple seasons of passer ratings greater than 127, however.
Veteran DB K’Von Wallace is signing a one-year deal with the #Seahawks, per source.

Seattle added linebacker Jerome Baker, formerly of the Miami Dolphins. Baker's contract terms were not released right away. He does have the ability to chase down quarterback, though.
Done deal.

We’ve signed LB Jerome Baker! pic.twitter.com/sESLpnZM8a
The Seahawks signed offensive lineman Tremayne Anchrum for depth, one would hope. He has played three years in the league with the Los Angeles Rams but only started one game and has 101 total snaps. That doesn't scream starter(!).
Seahawks signed former Rams guard Tremayne Anchrum.

Seattle's first signing from another team was tight end Pharaoh Brown. His deal is for just one year and a max of $3.9 million. Seattle will be Brown's sixth team since 2017. He is a good blocker but does not do much in terms of catching the ball.
Brown gets $3.2M base and up to $3.9M on a one-year deal. Caught 15 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown for New England last year. https://t.co/LicHMCBiRr

According to Jordan Schultz (but oddly not Ian Rapoport or Adam Schefter), Seattle will add linebacker Tyrel Dodson. Dodson was the top-graded linebacker in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus. This should turn out to be a huge win for the Seahawks.
BREAKING: Free agent LB Tyrel Dodson is signing with the #Seahawks, source tells @BleacherReport.

Dodson, 25, comes off a career-best season with the #Bills, recording 8 TFLs, 2 PBUs and 2.5 sacks. pic.twitter.com/uXan1EIbF3
According to Tom Pelissero, Seattle is signing backup offensive lineman Nick Harris, formerly of the Cleveland Browns. The deal is for one year and a max of $3,26 million. Harris played most of his snaps at center in 2023 and was a better pass-blocker than run-blocker. He played college at the University of Washington.
The #Seahawks agreed to terms with former #Browns OL Nick Harris to a one-year, $2.51 million deal plus incentives, per source. Max $3.26M for Harris, who has appeared in 40 career games (four starts).

According to Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks are bringing back a familiar face. Offensive lineman George Fant will return. Fant has started quite a bit since he left Seattle several years ago so one might wonder if he is a Plan B in case Abe Lucas cannot stay healthy.
Blast from the past: The #Seahawks also agreed to terms with veteran OT George Fant, who got his NFL start with Seattle in 2016. https://t.co/nItDXdV1vk

Pelissero also reported that safety Rayshawn Jenkins is signing with Seattle. Jenkins is a bit underwhelming of a player. Perhaps Schneider and Macdonald see his potential more clearly.
2024 free agents leaving the Seattle Seahawks
As with the free agents signed by Seattle, this part will be updated by who has been confirmed to be signing elsewhere. If I had an early guess, I would think most of Seattle's free agents leave. The current coaching staff is new, of course, so there is no years-long allegiance built up. That goes from coaches to players and players to coaches.
Bobby Wagner won't be returning to Seattle He signed a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders that will pay him $8.5 million. That is a pay hike for Wagner over 2023. There was no way the Seahawks were going to pay that. He will not re-unite with his former defensive coordinator in Seattle who is not the head coach with the Commanders, Dan Quinn.
Sources: #Seahawks perennial Pro Bowler and All-Pro LB Bobby Wagner is signing with the #Commanders on a 1-year deal worth a max value of $8.5M, a deal that includes $6M in guarantees.

Dan Quinn was with Wagner a decade ago in Seattle, now they’re back. A splash for Washington. pic.twitter.com/QPcsF0y9mt
Center Evan Brown reportedly signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He is among a handful of former Seahawks that have left Seattle for Arizona in the last couple of years. His deal was for one-year and a max of $2.9 million.
Veteran center Evan Brown is signing with the #Cardinals on a one-year, $2.35 million deal, per source. Max value $2.9M with incentives.

Brown has 40 career starts, including 16 last season with Seattle. Now he heads to an NFC West rival. pic.twitter.com/Pw6J9BwMmR
Mario Edwards, Jr. is reportedly signing a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. Edwards is a solid player in a defensive line rotation. His ability to help stop the run might be missed.
Source: The #Texans are signing veteran DL Mario Edwards Jr. to a 1-year deal. Another defensive addition, as Edwards was recently on a visit.

Drew Lock will not be returning to Seattle. Instead, he will play for the New York Giants. He could have a decent chance of starting for the team as well.
The #Giants are signing Drew Lock, per me, @TomPelissero and @MikeGarafolo
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 12, 2024
Will Dissly will not be returning. He is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Dissly's deal is for a reported $14 million over three years.

Jordyn Brooks is a big loss for Seattle. He is signing with the Miami Dolphins but not for a huge amount. His deal is three years and $30 million, according to Adam Schefter.

Damien Lewis is signing with the Carolina Panthers, per Ian Rapoport. The deal is for four years and $53 million. $26.2 million is guaranteed.
Another big-time guard in Carolina: Sources say the #Panthers are expected to sign former #Seahawks guard Damien Lewis to a 4-year, $53M deal with $26.2M fully guaranteed in a deal done by Andre Odom of @AthletesFirst.

According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, DeeJay Dallas is signing with the Arizona Cardinals. This means Seattle will face him twice a season. Dallas seemed like a good guy in the locker room and hopefully he will get more carries with Arizona than he would have in Seattle.
Breaking: Free agent RB DeeJay Dallas plans to sign with the with the #AZCardinals, source tells @BleacherReport.

According to Adam Schefter, Devin Bush is signing with the Cleveland Browns. Maybe Cleveland can get some production out of Bush. No other team has consistently been able to do so.
