Seahawks DK Metcalf and Quandre Diggs will be angry with NFL Top 100 rankings

We are still in the time of the year when rankings about everything in the NFL are coming out. NFL (dot com) is releasing its list of the top 100 players in the league, as voted on by the players themselves, over the next week. But Seattle Seahawks DK Metcalf and Quandre Diggs are going to be quite upset (and likely motivated) by where they are ranked. Or, more specifically, lack of being ranked.

In fact, 12s everywhere and many other Seahawks might be upset by the time the full rankings come out. So far we only know of numbers 100 through 91. But on Tuesday, NFL Films tweeted out (Is it still called "tweeting" by the way? Or is it now "X'ing"?) the last ten players out of the top 100. And Quandre Diggs was number 110 and DK Metcalf was number 101. How can this be?

Diggs is a consecutive three-time Pro Bowler and one of the best safeties in the NFL. Metcalf has 35 touchdown receptions in his first four seasons in the NFL and wrecks defensive backs in the playoffs. But then Metcalf didn't make the cut in 2022 either.

NFL Top 100 list disrespectful to Seahawks DK Metcalf and Quandre Diggs

There are some good things to come out of the 101 through 110 group. Seahawks linebacker Jordyn Brooks came in at a surprising number 102. Brooks is unlikely to play in the first part of 2023, so the votes he got from his peers show how much they respect him.

The other part is that Diggs being ranked 110 overall (one place behind Cordarrelle Patterson, mind you) and Metcalf ranked 101 is likely going to push both players to take their feelings of disrespect out by being productive in real games facing their peers who didn't vote for them. Diggs is open in saying he uses many things to help motivate him. But not making the top 100 players? That might be the biggest disrespect.

But let Metcalf and Diggs feed off the perceived negativity. Whatever helps the Seahawks win more games is great. But let's hope some Seahawks, like Geno Smith, Tyler Lockett, among others, do make the NFL top 100 list.
