The Seattle Seahawks still have a game to play before the team takes on the Miami Dolphins in Week 3 at Lumen Field. Seattle already knows it is likely to not have to play Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, however. When he is on, Tagovailoa is one of the best QBs in the league. The issue is that he has a concussion history.

Tagovailoa had already had two concussions in his five-year career before suffering another concussion on Thursday Night Football in the second half of Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. The quarterback wasn't having a great game before the injury - he threw three interceptions - but no one should want anyone to get hurt.

Ideally, any team wants to play another team's best players so there are no excuses about being able to win. A Dolphins team without Tagovailoa is greatly diminished even with the team having excellent receivers, Tyreke Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Head coach Mike McDaniel knows how to call a smart game.

Bad news for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa could be good news for the Seahawks

Still, Tagovailoa's skill set is tailor-made for McDaniel's offense because of the quarterback's ability to throw extremely accurate deep passes. Without that element of the offense, defenses can creep closer to the line of scrimmage to try to contain the running game and force Miami to throw short.

As far as the human element, one has to feel for Tagovailoa. There are even questions on the interwebs about whether he will need to think about retirement. One concussion for anyone can have long-term effects. Having three is awful, especially when the person plays a profession that risks them even further to concussions in the future.

McDaniel had no timeline for Tagovailoa's return after the game but he is almost certain to miss Week 3. That would mean the Seahawks would play backup Skylar Thompson who is nowhere near the quarterback Tagovailoa is. After Thompson entered the game against the Bills, he went 8-14 passing for just 80 yards and Miami was unable to score.

The Dolphins' defense is decent, but not great. If the Dolphins play Thompson against the Seahawks, which they are most likely to do, then Miami will be hoping for a close and low-scoring game. More likely, the Seahawks would be able to score at least 20 points against Miami and the Dolphins should not be able to score 20 points against Seattle.

Update: Tagovailoa has been ruled out of Week 3's game versus the Seahawks.
