Two young Seattle players get some praise

ESPN has a new article oddly titled, "2023 NFL All-Youngster Team: Top players under 24 years old," as if was written by a couple of 85-year-olds. Heck, maybe it was but I don't think the Matts, Miller and Bowen, who wrote the article are quite that old. (I do not mean to sound ageist; If they actually were 85 that would be OK.)

The other odd part is that players such as Jake Bobo would have never made the list because Bobo entered the NFL at almost 25 years old. I believe Stetson Bennett may have been in his early 60s (that Bennett part is a lie, of course; He is probably older). My point to all this is that two Seahawks made the list.

The first was left tackle Charles Cross. While Cross struggled a wee bit in his rookie season of 2022, as most rookies do, he has been much better in 2023. He has allowed only one sack and has win-rates of 80 percent or higher in both run and pass blocking. Plus, he was very good against Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns in Week 8.

You might guess the other Seahawk who is crazy good and still under 24 years old is rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon. Witherspoon might have only one interception this year (though it was a 97-yard pick-six in Week 4), but he has 10 pass breakups, which is second in the NFL. He also has 3 sacks, one short of tying the second-best number of sacks by a Seattle defensive back ever.
