Kenny McIntosh in and Jerrick Reed II out

Parsing head coach Pete Carroll after the Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, one might safely assume that running back Kenneth Walker III is not going to play in Week 12 against the 49ers. Walker suffered an oblique strain in the first half against the Rams and missed the rest of the game. Rookie Zach Charbonnet came into the game and took almost all of Walker's snaps, and Charbonnet was decent but not explosive.

If Walker doesn't play, we should expect rookie Kenny McIntosh to be active for the first game of his career. McIntosh hurt his leg in training camp and has been mostly out since early August. He was activated to practice a couple of weeks ago, but as Seattle normally just keeps three tailbacks active on game days, McIntosh hasn't been able to break through the Walker-Charbonnet-DeeJay Dallas trio. But like Walker, McIntosh appears to be an explosive back capable of changing games with a single run.

He also should be a good blocker as he played at Georgia, would have been taught how to block well, and would have faced SEC edge rusher and the SEC is basically just a minor league of the NFL. Oh, and McIntosh can catch as well. Maybe he will get a bunch of reps on Thursday.

In worse news, rookie safety Jerrick Reed II tore his ACL against the Rams in Week 11 and will be out for the year. Reed was third in the NFL with 11 special teams tackles. He also had 11 tackles on defensive snaps.
