Damien Lewis needs to be re-signed

For a lot of 2023, the Seattle Seahawks have had offensive line issues. Some of that can be attributed to right tackle Abraham Lucas missing every game between Week 1 and Week 13. He is possibly Seattle's best overall lineman and he has attitude for days that every team would love. Left guard Damien Lewis has been good for a number of seasons but is set to be a free agent this coming offseason.

According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Lewis was the third-highest-graded offensive player in Week 13 for the Seahawks. He had an elite pass-blocking grade of 84.9. So far in 2023, Lewis has been credited with just one quarterback hit and has allowed 22 total pressures which is not too bad.

While the offensive line has been a problem overall, Lewis has not been the issue, specifically. That has been the case for several seasons now. Seattle still hopes that Charles Cross continues to develop at left tackle and that Abe Lucas can stay healthy at right tackle, center and right guard are still concerns. Not re-signing Lewis next offseason would be creating a problem.

Seattle has enough problems already. There is no reason to cause more. Hopefully, the Seahawks are speaking to Lewis' agent already and working on a long-term deal.
