The Seattle Seahawks chose Devon Witherspoon with the fifth choice in the 2023 NFL draft. Witherspoon should help Seattle have one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL as Witherspoon will be paired with Tariq Woolen. The two players could be Seattle's outside CBs for most of the next decade.

So far, fans seem good with the pick for Witherspoon. Some might have hoped they would have taken an edge rusher or defensive lineman, but Seattle did address the line this offseason with the signings of Dre'Mont Jones and Jarran Reed, and Boye Mafe, a 2022 pick, might grow into a force this coming season. Witherspoon should be a very good player for Seattle.

But what do current Seattle players think of the Witherspoon choice? Fans are important, of course, as we pay for the salaries of NFL executives and players. But for a team to be successful, the locker room has to be sound.

What are some Seahawks players saying about the Witherspoon pick?

Lockett, of course, is one of the positive people a person can meet in any walk of life, but he is likely the closest thing the Seahawks have as a player to coach Pete Carroll. Carroll and Lockett's positivity is contagious. One can be sure one of the first players to welcome Witherspoon will be Lockett.

Witherspoon might be a great player one day soon, but like every rookie he will need a bit of time to acclimate to the speed of the NFL. Thankfully, he will have Diggs behind him to help close the gap on receivers. Diggs has become one of the foundational players for Seattle and should be a good leader for Witherspoon in the secondary room.
