Seahawks steal No. 2: LB Trenton Simpson, University of Clemson

Simpson boasts tons of athleticism like Kelee Ringo, with 4.43 speed in the 40-yard dash. He had a solid career at Clemson where he finished his career with 165 tackles (23 of them for loss), 13 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Providing tons of production for Dabo Swinney and college powerhouse Clemson.

Simpson will likely be a day two selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. His draft projection has him either going between the second and third of the draft. Simpson would be a nice selection for the Seahawks at pick 52 in the second round. He has the raw athleticism the Seahawks are looking for at linebacker he just needs to be taught well. Under Bobby Wagner, Simpson could become the next franchise linebacker for the Seahawks.

Seattle brought Trenton Simpson in for a top 30 visit on April 12th. The Seahawks also brought in Drake Thomas, a linebacker from North Carolina State University for a top 30 visit. Which means the Seahawks are interested in taking a linebacker in the 2023 draft.

They did address the position in free agency by adding Devin Bush and Bobby Wagner. However, with the injury to Jordyn Brooks and loss of Cody Barton in free agency, the Seahawks could still draft a linebacker. The Seahawks will be looking to find a future replacement for Bobby Wagner who will be 33 years old when the season starts and he is on a one-year contract. Trenton Simpson would be a solid selection on day 2 of the draft at 52 overall as possible future starting linebacker.
