Seahawks steal No. 3: RB Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State

Vaughn is a difficult player to grade as far as his draft stock given the fact, he is undersized (at 5’5) for a running back. Most experts have him going in the fifth round, but he could go as early as the fourth round. Making him a prime target for the Seahawks to steal on day three.

Vaughn’s lack of size would be a liability for him in passing situations for blitz pickups, but he has exceptional pass-catching ability for a running back. With DeeJay Dallas already on the roster, the Seahawks already have a solid back who can block potential blitzers on third and long. Vaughn could fill a void for the Seahawks and provide another receiving option in short-yardage situations on third down.

Pete Carroll will also like the fact that Vaughn did not have fumbling problems in college. He had just one fumble on 293 rushing attempts in 2022 for Kansas State. Which is huge given Pete Carroll is always focused on protecting the football.

Despite his small stature, Vaughn put up big numbers at Kansas State with 1,558 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns, along with 378 receiving yards on 42 receptions, plus three receiving touchdowns in 2022. Including 133 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Deuce Vaughn is another hidden gem in this year’s NFL Draft for the Seahawks to find.
