Seahawks defensive line and inside linebackers

Defensive line - Jarran Reed, Cam Young, Dre'Mont Jones

The Seahawks might still need to find an answer at nose tackle or maybe Young is the guy. Things like this sometimes just come down to how much we trust John Schneider and Pete Carroll and have 13 years of relative success maybe it is time to start trusting them. It's also helpful to remember that prior to 2022 Seattle's run defense wasn't bad.

In fact, in 2021 the Seahawks were one of the best teams in the league at doing so. The switch to more of a 3-4 base may have affected the run defense the most as Seattle had players, like Poona Ford, playing out of position. Young is bigger than Ford and is just a mountain of strength. Meanwhile, Jones supplies interior pass rush and can play the run fairly well and Reed is more of a run-stopper nowadays.

Inside linebackers - Bobby Wagner and Devin Bush

These two are another reason Seattle will be better against the run. Last year, Seattle had Jordyn Brooks and Cody Barton on the inside and half of that group - Barton - just isn't good against the run. Wagner and Bush can both tackle extremely well and are great at getting their noses inside the offensive line.

I think it's going to be a tremendous boost to the defense to have Wagner back and call out the defensive alignments. Seattle's defense is likely going to have much better communication pre-snap and that is going to help with reactions to plays. There is nothing an opposing offense can set up pre-snap that Wagner hasn't seen in his career.
