Seahawks will face QB Bryce Young - Carolina Panthers (Round 1, Pick 1)

If he starts, the Seahawks will get to face the number one overall pick—quarterback Bryce Young early in Week 3 this season. There's a chance it could be Andy Dalton but the Panthers poured a lot of capital into trading up for the number one pick to select Young so let's assume it's him for this purpose.

Going into the draft, there were very few concerns regarding Young. Most concerns revolved around height (5'10"), but the Panthers decided that wasn't a big enough concern for them. The Seahawks made the same decision back in 2012 when they drafted Russell Wilson (5'11") in the third round and I'd say it worked out decently for them.

Regardless of the concerns about his frame and size, Young is NFL-ready. He's already an incredibly poised quarterback who holds the right demeanor and has all the intangibles to succeed. Even at his height, he has the ability to read the whole field and is mobile enough to extend plays in and out of the pocket.

This matchup could prove either favorable for Seattle or quite embarrassing, depending on Young's progress by the time Week 3 rolls around. Assuming Young does play, it will be interesting to see how he does against a fellow rookie, Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon.
