The Seattle Seahawks now are in a strong financial position to re-sign one of their key free agents DT Leonard Williams. Cutting safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, plus tight end Will Dissly, gives them the ability to make a competitive offer to Williams in free agency. Williams made quite an impact when Seattle acquired him last season. With four sacks and nine tackles for loss in 10 games for the Seahawks in 2024.

Leonard Williams' production was crucial following the loss of defensive end Uchenna Nwosu. Williams is a unique defensive player because he can be a force in both the run and passing game. Re-signing Williams also means the Seahawks would be less likely to use their first-round pick on a defensive lineman. Which would give them the opportunity to select another impact player at a position of need with that draft pick instead.

The Seahawks have been doing a good job of building their defensive line over the past two years. Using free agency, the draft, and trades to make their D-line better. Bringing back Leonard Williams is critical because he gives Seattle another veteran pass rusher alongside Uchenna Nwosu.

Seattle Seahawks need to make a big push to re-sign Leonard Williams

Mike Macdonald did a masterful job in Baltimore with his pressure schemes and getting after opposing quarterbacks. Keeping Williams would certainly help coach Macdonald with where he wants to take Seattle's defense.

Clearly, the Seahawks cutting S Jamal Adams, S Quandre Diggs, and TE Will Dissly opened up their options in free agency this year. They now have $27.5 million in extra cash to spend on DT Leonard Williams and other free agents. The Seahawks could use that money on not just Williams, but also other positions of need as well.

The Seahawks need to add two linebackers with both Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks headed for free agency. Plus, the Seahawks have two tight ends Colby Parkinson and Noah Fant who will be free agents they urgently need to bring back after letting go of TE Will Dissly. With the cuts the Seahawks just made, accomplishing the goal of re-signing each of their key free agents and DT Leonard Williams is achievable.
