Seattle Seahawks fans should find recent 49ers move hilarious

Seattle's NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers have had an interesting offseason.

The San Francisco 49ers are a good team and there is no disputing that. Twice in the last five seasons, the 49ers have been to the Super Bowl (though they have lost both times). They also own a current five-game winning streak over the Seattle Seahawks. Life is good for 49ers' fans...for now.

The issue is that San Francisco is about to run into some major cash flow concerns. They have to make 2025 free agency decisions on Brandon Aiyuk and Talanoa Hufanga, and 2026 decisions about many key players, including quarterback Brock Purdy. Sure, those are a couple of years away, but San Francisco is going to be forced to look different sooner rather than later.

The 49ers know it, too. They recently asked eight-time Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk to take a pay cut to help with payroll. The problem was that Juszczyk appeared to be caught off-guard by the 49ers asking, and the fullback felt disrespected about the request. To be fair, he is still the highest-paid player at his position, and paying a fullback much money seems like a waste, but Juszczyk is different.

Seahawks fans can revel in Kyle Juszczyk's unhappiness

His versatility and ability to block allows the 49ers offense to function at a higher level than it might with any other player doing what Juszczyk does. He has missed one game in four years so his availability is something the 49ers can count on as well. He should feel disrespected by a team that he has devoted the last seven years to.

Does this mean Juszczyk is going to play less hard for San Francisco in the future? Of course, not. Still, a player who is not currently on the 49ers' roster and is a free agent next year could think, "I am not going there. They don't treat their star players very well."

All the 49ers drama this offseason has to make a Seahawks fan happy. Maybe 12s will feel a little different once the season begins if the 49ers continue to succeed and the Seahawks go through the growing pains of having a new head coach, but for now, 12s will likely be happy to relish in some San Francisco unhappiness.

Even if the 49ers are winning now, money issues are going to catch up with them. Maybe the team makes other players unhappy as well just as Juszczyk seems peeved now. In 2026, San Francisco currently has the sixth-least cap room in the league. That doesn't take into account the contracts of Purdy, George Kittle, and Deebo Samuel because all of those players are set for free agency that year.
