Rejoice, 12s! Our latest podcast is up! OK, to be fair, I am completely joking. In truth, I am talking about the Seattle Seahawks very likely making a home run hire of Mike Macdonald to be the team's new head coach. Macdonald replaced Pete Carroll who had been the coach since 2010. Macdonald's deal is for six years.

Macdonald becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL at just 36 years old. He has been coaching for a decade, though, and coached every facet of the Baltimore Ravens over that time. Macdonald did leave Baltimore for one season in 2021 only to rejoin the team in 2022 as the defensive coordinator. In Macdonald's time as the Ravens' DC, he churned out two top-ten defenses.

Now that Macdonald has been hired, the next set of questions is what to do with the rest of the coaching staff. General manager John Schneider nor Macdonald have had to hire an offensive coordinator before. Since 2010, Pete Carroll had full control over the coaching staff instead of Schneider.

Macdonald will also have to hire a new defensive coaching staff as well, but he is likely more familiar with coaches on that side of the ball since that is all he has coached in the NFL. Seattle does appear to be retaining defensive backs coach Karl Scott, but every other coach Carroll had could be gone. Former DC Clint Hurtt would not be staying with the Seahawks anyway, but Hurtt was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles to be their defensive line coach.

The excellent part of this is you can tune in to hear our soothing voices speak about the Seahawks' hiring of Macdonald and all the other potential moves. Will Geno Smith still be QB1 in Seattle under Macdonald? We discuss that and all other things Seahawks.
