The Seattle Seahawks have been dealing with their own health concerns at quarterback the last couple of weeks as Geno Smith has been dealing with a groin injury, but on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles downgraded quarterback Jalen Hurts to questionable. Hurts is not hurt, however. He is sick.

He is so sick, in fact, that he isn't actually traveling with the team to Seattle and instead traveling separately. This would appear to indicate that whatever his illness is would be contagious and the Eagles do not want to risk other players to also being sick. There was no indication given as to what kind of illness Hurts currently has, though.

Should Hurts not be able to play, the Seahawks would face an Eagles offense led by veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota. Not that Seattle cannot be beaten by a backup quarterback, of course. 12s have seen their share of games where quarterbacks such as Colt McCoy start opposite Seattle and then suddenly turn into Hall of Fame-type QBs.

Jalen Hurts downgraded by the Eagles to question for Week 15 due to illness

The determination of if Jalen Hurts playing or not will not be made until Monday, but the Eagles did say Hurts' condition worsened over Saturday night. That isn't a good sign, obviously.

There is a very real chance at this point that the Seahawks and Eagles play on Monday Night Football in Week 15 with both teams starting backups at QB. Geno Smith has only been limited in practice ahead of the Eagles game, and Drew Lock started in Week 14 and took the majority of the QB1 reps in practice.

Philadelphia is in a much better position than Seattle is currently in terms of making a playoff run. The Eagles could even lose a couple more games and likely make the postseason. The Seahawks need to win at least three of their last four to put themselves in a spot to make the postseason.
