The Cleveland Browns will visit Lumen Field on Saturday to play the Seattle Seahawks in each team's final preseason game of 2024. The healthy starters for both teams are expected to play so this will mark the first time 12s will get to watch quarterback Geno Smith this preseason.

The game is meaningless as far as who wins or loses, of course, but there could be meaning in how well Seattle's offense looks. Fans got a glimpse of Seattle's defensive starters in the first two series of preseason Week 1 when Seattle's D thwarted the Los Angeles Chargers. It was an enticing peak at what the defense might be capable of under head coach Mike Macdonald.

Of course, Seattle also has a new offensive system with new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Playing the offensive starters in the first two preseason games might not have done much good as both the Chargers and Tennessee Titans play the same kind of defense as Seattle. Smith would have been playing against the same alignments and scheme that he faces daily in practice.

What is the forecast for Seahawks versus Browns in preseason Week 3?

The Browns have a completely different scheme than the Seahawks so that should give Smith, DK Metcalf, and others a challenge. What the offense won't be challenged with is bad weather, however. As opposed to the heavy drizzle the offense might have to deal with many times at Lumen Field, the glorified practice with the Browns will almost be like playing indoors.

According to NFLWeather (dot) com, temperatures will hover in the lower 60s for most of the game with no more than a 35 percent chance of rain. That drops to less than 20 percent for the second half. The wind should be around 10 mph, so not an issue.

The Weather Channel has an even better forecast. By the time the game begins at 7 pm PT, skies should be partly cloudy with hardly any chance of precipitation. 12s going to game might need a jacket, but fans should not need an umbrella or poncho.

If the Seahawks are going to play their starters against Cleveland, and they are expected to, then at least Geno Smith should have a clean field to play with. Now, let's just hope the offense starts quickly and productively.
