Loser - Quarterback PJ Walker

PJ Walker was the complete opposite of Sam Howell. Walker was on target in training camp and seemed to have a live arm that could make almost any throw needed. But then the preseason games began and Walker looked fairly lost. One has to throw out Walker going 7-10 in preseason Week 3 because he was only 8-18 in the other two games. He also averaged just 5.3 yards per attempt.

Walker did not have a real chance to become QB2 unless Howell had been as bad in the preseason games as he was in training camp, but Walker could have landed on the practice squad and stood on the sidelines during the regular season and gone in if something happened to Geno Smith or Howell. The thought of that happening now is a scary one.

Instead of potentially bringing back Walker to the practice squad, the Seahawks should look elsewhere to find their QB3. There is no reason to think Seattle could win a game if Walker needed to take real snaps.

Winner - Safety Ty Okada

Okada caught on with Seattle's practice squad last year and he appeared in five games. All of his reps came on special teams, though. This at least means general manager John Schneider knows what Okada can do and would imply Schneider might want to keep Okada around the team in some facet in 2024.

The safety was fantastic in the preseason. He allowed a quarterback rating when targeted of an extremely low 30.6. While four of the six passes thrown toward Oakada were completed, they only went for a combined 15 yards. He did not miss any tackle attempts but was in on 10. He also got a quarterback pressure.
