Zach Charbonnet will need huge game in Week 2 based on Seahawks final injury report
By Lee Vowell
The Seattle Seahawks are entering Week 2 of the 2024 regular season with some definite injury concerns. Out against the New England Patriots will be tight end Pharaoh Brown and edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu. They also missed Week 1 and the team was fine. Let's hope the same remains true in Week 2.
The issue is that Brown and Nwosu are not the only issues. In Week 2, as opposed to Week 1, Seattle also has a couple of doubtfuls and one is RB1 Kenneth Walker III and right tackle George Fant. We can assume Fant is out with a knee issue he suffered in Week 1. It will not be surprising if he missed the next couple of weeks.
Walker was likely the player of the game for Seattle in the team's season opener but he hurt his oblique and had to leave the game. He finished with 103 yards rushing and his backup Zach Charbonnet did not accomplish much. Charbonnet was a second-round draft pick in 2023 and the hope is that he can be close to Walker's quality, but that is not clear yet.
Seahawks injury report for Week 2 is a bit concerning
Against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, Charbonnet gained just 12 yards on eight carries. He did catch a pass out of the backfield for a 30-yard touchdown so maybe he can be a surprisingly good receiving threat against the Patriots.
Player | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|
Pharaoh Brown | Foot | Out |
Uchenna Nwosu | Knee | Out |
George Fant | Knee | Doubtful |
Kenneth Walker III | Oblique | Doubtful |
Jerome Baker | Hamstring | Questionable |
Tyrel Dodson | Shoulder | Questionable |
In place of Brown, rookie AJ Barner will probably get more reps. He was inconsistently mediocre in Week 1 and did not get a receiving target, but maybe with a week's less of nervousness, he will be solid against the Patriots.
In place of Fant, Stone Forsythe should get the start. He at least has some experience playing and might be decent. The issue is that the Patriots were able to get a lot of pass rush against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 and a diminished Seahawks line in Week 2 might not be much better.
Both the Seahawks' inside linebackers are listed as questionable but neither has new injuries. Both are likely to play.
