The Seattle Seahawks might rue not getting a victory in Week 3 against the Washington Commanders. The game was an odd one where head coach Mike macdonald's elite defense couldn't stop backup quarterback Marcus Mariota when it needed to. Instead of 3-0, Seattle is now 2-1 and facing a tough stretch of games.
The Seahawks will need to win most of the games, too. Five of the next six are at Lumen Field (Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals is also in Seattle), but then only three games for the rest of the season are at home.
If Seattle dismisses the loss to the Commanders quickly and takes care of business before the Week 11 bye week, the team could be 8-2 and sitting pretty. Or the playoffs could be in jeopardy.
Seahawks vs. Chargers - Week 4

When the season began, this appeared to be one of the glamor games of Week 3. Instead, Los Angeles seems adrift on the NFL oceans and lost. Quarterback Justin Herbert also hasn't become a top-five quarterback. He's capable of goodness, but not consistent brilliance. Not yet.
Of course, part of the story of this game is Mike Macdonald facing his old Michigan boss, Jim Harbaugh. Macdonald was Harbaugh's defensive coordinator for one season, which was sandwiched between the Seahawks' current head coach working for Jim's brother, John, with the Baltimore Ravens.
Of course, the Chargers might be the more motivated team. Los Angeles is 0-3, and losing their first four games would likely be a killer for their playoff hopes.
- Prediction: Win (3-1)
This game will probably be close, like most NFL games, but LA could steal the game if Seattle turns the ball over three times, as they did in Week 3. The Chargers are third in the league, having taken the ball away six times already.
Seahawks vs. 49ers - Week 5

As the 2025 season wore on, Mike Macdonald appeared to understand what 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was trying to do, and Seattle dominated their NFC West rivals. Part of the reason was that San Francisco was so banged up defensively.
The 49ers are still an injured bunch, far beyond what most clubs would be able to handle, and yet they continue to win games. How? Good coaching and a great scheme. Plus, quarterback Brock Purdy has been playing elite football.
The truth is that while the Seahawks are still a very good football team, they aren't as talented as they were last season. Replacing Boye Mafe with Dante Fowler Jr., for instance, has been a failure. The talent level is back to even between these teams entering Week 5.
- Prediction: Loss (3-2)
Sure, Seattle destroyed the 49ers in the last two meetings last season, but the teams are simply different now. San Francisco is far better defensively. Seattle might get revenge on the 49ers later in the season, but Shanahan wins the first meeting.
Seahawks at Broncos - Week 6

- Venue: Empower Field at Mile High
- Channel: Amazon Prime
Denver is a weird team. Bo Nix is a great fit in head coach Sean Payton's offense, but he is not an elite player without the scheme. Still, one cannot take the system away from the quarterback. The Broncos also have a good defense, but one that isn't perfect.
Denver is excellent in pass coverage (third in the NFL with a 74.3 quarterback rating allowed), and the Seahawks cannot currently run the ball effectively. Seattle offensive coordinator Brian Fleury needs that to happen for his system to be at its best, and that isn't likely to happen in a bad matchup with Denver.
Losing two games in four days seems unlikely for the Seattle Seahawks, but these matchups are unique and difficult. The season is already destined to be hampered by a Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders with their backup quarterback.

It is difficult to see Seattle scoring enough points to win this game. Maybe this will be a low-scoring slugfest, but Denver has the advantage at home.
Seahawks vs. Chiefs - Week 7

Seattle received a lot of primetime love this season for a good reason: The team is the defending Super Bowl champion and a fun team to follow. But this game should definitely have been a primetime game no matter what happened in the previous season. Patrick Mahomes versus Mike Macdonald? What could be better?
The Seattle Seahawks also have an advantage here, especially if they do lose their two prior games. The team will be licking its wounds and wanting to get back into the playoff hunt. A mini-break should allow them to do just that, since Seattle won't have played for 10 days prior.
Of course, this game also sees the return of running back Kenneth Walker to Lumen Field. 12s should welcome him warmly, but let's hope he doesn't continue his excellent form from early in the season.

A close win that is more of an offensive battle? Maybe. The hope is that rookie Jadarian Price chooses this game to show why he is Seattle's RB1 for the foreseeable future and would be the better choice than Walker.
Seahawks vs. Bears - Week 8

- Time: 5:15 p.m. PT
- Venue: Lumen Field
- Channel: ESPN
Chicago is proving to be a well-built team. Head coach Ben Johnson is a great offensive coach, but the Bears' defense is very good too. While quarterback Caleb Williams will be out a bit longer, he should return by Week 8.
Plus, Chicago proved it can win without him, as they dominated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-7 with third-string quarterback Case Keenum. No team is currently playing with more confidence, and that is not likely to change before the Seahawks game.
This is Ben Johnson versus Mike Macdonald, and it should make for Monday Night Football excellence. Let's just hope Seattle shows the national audience that it is still the NFC alpha.

One thing to watch in this game is the weather. Early November in the Pacific Northwest could be rainy. Which team would that hurt more?
