The Seattle Seahawks lost to the Los Angeles Rams, and many 12s probably have the same thought: If it weren't for quarterback Sam Darnold, Seattle could have won. Darnold has had a great season, but he had a meltdown in Week 12. There is no other way to spin a four-interception game.
Many fans of the teams that Darnold had previously played with in his career seemed to relish the quarterback's poor game. It is quite sad when people feel happy when another person suffers, even if that person has no direct relation to them. Darnold isn't a bad person; he simply had a bad game.
New York Jets fans sarcastically said Darnold was "seeing ghosts," just as the quarterback once said he was doing in a game his Jets lost to the New England Patriots. Again, as great as the quarterback has been for most of this year, he wasn't seeing the game clearly against the Rams.
Seattle Seahawks fans can agree on Richard Sherman's stance on Minnesota Vikings fans
Oddly, Minnesota Vikings fans also seemed to find some joy in Darnold's awful game. The quarterback spent one season with Minnesota, and he was tremendous until the last two games of 2024. Minnesota chose not to re-sign him, and he left in free agency and signed with Seattle.
The Seahawks got the better end of the deal. The team is 7-3 and fighting for a playoff spot. The Vikings elevated J.J. McCarthy to QB1, but he hasn't performed well overall when healthy enough to play. Minnesota is 4-6 and going nowhere.
Former Seahawks icon turned podcast host Richard Sherman doesn't want to hear any attempted smack talk from Vikings fans, either. He made his stance on the pushback Sam Darnold has gotten from Skol Nation this week clear.
Speaking on his pod, Sherman said, "Sam Darnold isn't going to play that bad, I don't think ever again. I think he'll learn from these mistakes. And I know Minnesota Vikings fans are like, 'Oh man, they say you see this is why we let him go.' Please (Vikings fans) just shut up. You guys have no room to talk, no room to speak. You're 4-6...I guess you won't have to deal with the quarterback potentially not playing well in the playoffs because you won't be there."
Preach on, Richard Sherman. Had the Vikings replaced Darnold with McCarthy or any other quarterback and done well, Skol Nation might have a good point. They don't. The fanbase seems sour about their team being worse in 2025 without having Darnold.
And yes, Sam Darnold was terrible in Week 12, but he hasn't been the rest of the season, and he might not be moving forward. The Vikings would probably be a playoff team with the current Seattle Seahawks QB1, but instead, Minnesota is simply wasting one of the prime years of wide receiver Justin Jefferson's career.
