Richard Sherman says what all Seahawks fans were thinking after Week 16 victory

He is, of course, correct.

Richard Sherman knows ball. He did when he played for the Seattle Seahawks and helped create the Legion of Boom, and he knows the game well as an analyst and podcast host now. Is he brash and loud? Of course, but that's his job.

He also doesn't stay off social media, and good for fans. He sometimes makes straightforward observations that nearly anyone could do, but he has moments of brilliance, even if simplistic, as well. Such was the case when commenting on the Seahawks' stunning Week 16 victory against the Los Angeles Rams.

The game, of course, was brilliant for 12s. An emotional roller-coaster? Absolutely, but that is what sports should be. It was also confusing, like when running back Zach Charbonnet converted a 2-point try by picking up what most people, including Charbonnet, was an incomplete pass.

Richard Sherman sums up the Seattle Seahawks' Week 16 victory perfectly

Sherman wrote after the game on X, "What a damn game!!!!!! Zach Charbonnet with the most unorthodox heads up play of the year."

In relation to the first part, Sherman is absolutely correct. It was a great football game, no matter who was playing. The good part is that it involved the Seahawks, and Seattle was the winner.

To the second part, maybe not. The 2-point conversion was indeed unorthodox, but how much of a heads-up play it was is debatable. That is not meant as any offense to Charbonnet, either. Sam Darnold threw a pass toward him; it hit a Rams defender's helmet, appeared to be an incomplete pass, and the ball rolled into the end zone, where Charbonnet picked it up.

The running back didn't run to recover the ball. He walked and then handed the ball to an official. He didn't celebrate. Charbonnet didn't know what he had done. No one did for more than a minute later when referees chose to review the play. Darnold's pass had gone backward before hitting the player's helmet, and, therefore, it was a fumble. Charbonnet accidentally recovered it.

Still, it is Richard Sherman's penchant for obviously rooting for the Seattle Seahawks that should make 12s happy. He might have left in free agency for the San Francisco 49ers nearly a decade ago, but he will always be a Seahawk.

Ultimately, he's a fan, too, and he knew what he saw on Thursday Night Football was a fantastic example of football. Thankfully, the Seahawks won and have now clinched a playoff spot with a real chance of being the top seed in the NFC.
