The Seattle Seahawks must get a victory in Week 7. The team has lost three of its last four games, and the playoffs could be in jeopardy if it loses to the Kansas City Chiefs. A 3-4 start, coupled with a victory by the San Francisco 49ers, would put head coach Mike Macdonald's team four games back.
That would almost certainly mean that to get to the postseason, Seattle would need to enter as a wild card. It is too early in the season to figure out who might be fighting for a playoff spot, but being close to 10-7 is going to put the defending champions at risk.
Let's assume Seattle gets the victory on Sunday Night Football in Week 7 against the Chiefs, though, and the world is right again. Here is what you would need to know about the win before it happens.

Seattle Seahawks inactives and injury updates
- Linebacker Drake Thomas
- Linebacker Connor O'Toole
- Linebacker Chazz Surratt
- The official injury report will come out an hour and a half before kickoff and this will be updated to reflect that
The positive part is that running back Zach Charbonnet will return after injuring his knee in the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers. How much he plays remains unknown. He could be limited in reps in his first game back.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, though, Charbonnet is expected to play "a lot." We will see if that comes true.
Chiefs inactives and injury updates
- Right tackle Jaylon Moore
- Wide receiver Rashee Rice
- Running back Brashard Smith
Rasheed Rice was expected to miss the game with hamstring and knee injuries. He is far from the focal point of the Chiefs' offense, though. Starting right tackle Jaylon Moore will also be out with a concussion. The full list of inactives will be released about 3:50 pm PT on Sunday.
Of course, the key to Kansas City's offense, besides quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been former Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker. He is healthy entering Week 7.

Storylines to watch for Seahawks in Week 7
Can the Seahawks shut down the Super Bowl MVP?
Kenneth Walker helped lead Seattle to a title last season, but then he wasn't offered a deal to return in free agency. Instead, he signed with Kansas City, and he has been a star. He leads the NFL in rushing yards (665) and has been every bit as good as Seattle thought he would be when he was chosen in the second round of the 2022 draft.
KC will also be dangerous with Andy Reid as head coach and Patrick Mahomes behind center, but they've both been made better by Walker. If Seattle can't slow down Walker, the Seahawks won't win.
Will Sam Darnold stop turning the ball over?
The quarterback has thrown seven interceptions in four games (he only played in the first series of Week 1 and missed Week 2 with a glute injury). That kind of play will not only get Darnold benched eventually, but he certainly won't be worthy of getting an extension after his contract ends after 2027.
Kansas City's defense has nine turnovers, the ninth-most in the NFL. Five of those are interceptions, meaning they know how to take the ball away. Darnold will need to play at a high level on Sunday Night Football.
Prediction
Seahawks 24, Chiefs 21
The team that needs the victory more will get the win here. The Chiefs are 5-0 and playing on the road at Lumen Field. They have every reason to drop their first game of the season. Sure, KC is more than capable of getting the victory, but Seattle might be bordering on being desperate.
The Seahawks defense was also good enough to win in Week 6, but Sam Darnold turned the ball over too much. Seattle's Week 6 opponent, the Denver Broncos, has a better defense than the Chiefs (not that KC's is bad, but Denver's is elite), so Seattle should get just enough points to win.
