Seahawks' DK Metcalf ruthlessly trolled by 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir

DK Metcalf struggles against the San Francisco 49ers. It doesn't seem to matter who is playing for the 49ers, either. Metcalf simply does not have great games. Since January of 2021, Metcalf has not had more than 60 yards receiving in any of the eight games he has played against San Francisco and has caught just two touchdown passes.
In Week 6, Metcalf caught just three passes on 11 targets for 48 yards. He also had a dropped pass, pulled up on a route that ended with a Geno Smith interception, and failed to fight for a long pass where he might have easily caused San Francisco to be flagged for pass interference. At least he didn't fumble for the first time in three games.
The Seahawks receiver has always been known to be quite the trash-talker on the field. He never stops talking and sometimes gets himself so worked up that he gets 15-yard personal foul penalties called against him. That has been an issue in 2024, but was in previous seasons.

Opposing defensive players have learned to feed off of Metcalf's constant barking and sometimes seem to bate him into mistakes. Plus, this year, when Metcalf doesn't get the ball enough - or is not as productive - he seems to be more sullen on the sideline. That is not a trend that needs to continue.
Following the 49ers 36-24 victory over the Seahawks on Thursday, San Francisco cornerback Deommodore Lenoir went a bit overboard in his seeming fixation on trolling Metcalf. Lenoir also accused Metcalf of not showing up for the game in a talk with the media in the locker room. At this point, Metcalf has not yet responded.
In speaking with the media, Lenoir said, "I just know the hyena can't be (expletive) with... there was a lot of conversation out there... we kept it football, but you know, one of us showed up tonight. He going to talk... not like me, proof is in the pudding."
Later, Lenoir simply couldn't quit Metcalf. He posted a video pointing out Metcalf only having three catches versus the 49ers. To be fair, Metcalf would have had a long touchdown catch if not for a silly penalty on running back Kenneth Walker III for moving before the ball was snapped. Still, Metcalf wasn't able to replicate the play at any other point in the game.
The fact is that while Metcalf is clearly a skilled receiver, he is a bit too inconsistent in big games. He could have done more against the 49ers to help his offense. He needs to be better for the Seahawks for the rest of the season if Seattle has any chance of having a winning record.
