While no Seattle Seahawks fan wants the San Francisco 49ers to supersede their favorite team, it is also unfair to wish players to get injured. If one team beats another, that team wants the other to have no excuses. With San Fran, though, injuries might be an excuse, and it might have another problem after the Ricky Pearsall update.
Pearsall has been dealing with a right knee injury for nearly a year after first hurting it in Week 4 last season. After three training camp practices this year, the knee "flared up," according to ESPN, and, according to KNBR in the Bay Area, there is a good chance that the young wide receiver won't be able to "contribute" at all this coming season.
Couple that with the fact that receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been a menace to the 49ers for more than two years, and hasn't been playing because of...Well, you'd have to ask him. The fact is, San Francisco has a real problem at wide receiver, especially as Jauan Jennings left in free agency and signed with the Minnesota Vikings, and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling has so far been a disaster.
Seattle Seahawks rival, the San Francisco 49ers, have a Ricky Pearsall injury problem
Again, none of this is to pity the team directly to Seattle's south, though maybe one feeling bad for Pearsall is understandable, but no Seahawks fan wants a 49ers fan to say, "We'd have beaten you if we didn't have so many injuries, and let's see you prove otherwise."
What seemed to be the case in 2025 was that Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald simply did a better job coaching his side of the ball (defense) than 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan did his (offense). Any lack of respect for San Francisco's offense can be ruled out on the Seahawks' side, though, as the team hired former 49ers coach Brian Fleury to be their new offensive coordinator.
The San Francisco 49ers are a good team and a formidable foe, just as the Seattle Seahawks are to them. Despite all their injuries in 2025, they were still a playoff team. Their defense will likely be better this coming season simply with better health.
Still, the hope is that Seattle defeats the 49ers while San Francisco is nearly fully healthy. No one wants to have any excuses on either side. In other words, let's hope the injury concern with Ricky Pearsall isn't as grave as it currently seems, he comes back healthy, and his team loses to the Seahawks.
