The Seattle Seahawks have been hampered by a poor running game this season, especially after rookie running back Jadarian Price was lost to a chest injury. In Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, the team is extremely unlikely to have Zach Charbonnet back to help overcome the struggles of Emanuel Wilson and George Holani.

Charbonnet hurt his knee in the playoffs last season, had surgery, and while he is off injured reserve now, head coach Mike Macdonald said on Monday that Charbonnet "as of right now, he’s not going to play in this game." In other words, since it's a short week, don't count on Charbonnet suiting up.

One hopes he will be available in Week 7, especially since Seattle has a bit of a mini-break after Thursday's Broncos game. The next day Seattle is scheduled to play is Sunday, October 25, against the Kansas City Chiefs. That means Charbonnet has nearly two weeks to prepare to see the field again.

Zach Charbonnet unlikely to play for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6

Price is on injured reserve currently, and he won't be able to return until Week 7 either. Maybe Price and Charbonnet return for the same game, giving the Seahawks a massive boost in an area that needs it.

Wilson has been inconsistently productive, and Holani hasn't sustained any real level of success. Both have struggled to hold onto the ball, especially Holani, who fumbled in the end zone just before the first half ended against the San Francisco 49ers. San Fran fell on the ball for a touchdown. The play changed the course of the game.

Price also had some issues holding onto the ball before he was injured. When he returns, he will need to focus on ball security, as he had a bit of a fumbling issue, even going back to last year during his final season at Notre Dame.

Charbonnet is now in his fourth season in the NFL, and he has never lost a fumble. Plus, he is the kind of strong back who can grind out gains in short-yardage situations, helping improve Seattle's third-down percentage and red-zone conversions. Last season. Charbonnet had 12 rushing touchdowns. He is exactly the kind of running back that Seattle is missing.

Eventually, Zach Charbonnet will return, as will Jadarian Price. The Seattle Seahawks' run game is going to look better later in the season than it does now. The hope is that the team hasn't suffered too many losses due to a hindered offense and that being better at running the ball later in the season is meaningless.
