Oh no...

The expectation, or maybe the hope, for Week 7 for the Seattle Seahawks was that running back Zach Charbonnet would be ready to play against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, he won't play. He was ruled out again on Friday, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.

The strange part was that Charbonnet seemed to be ramping up over the last few weeks. He was a full participant ahead of the Chiefs game and seemed destined to play. Even NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Charbonnet might get a heavy workload against KC. Kind of shows what the "insiders" really know.

Charbonnet won't be playing against his former teammate, Kenneth Walker, who has been a star for KC this season. The kind of star that a healthy Charbonnet could have been for the Seahawks in 2026, but a knee injury in the playoffs last season forced him to miss time well into this season.

Zach Charbonnet is out again for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7

Still, knowing that his absence ahead of Week 7, and with the Seahawks struggling to run the ball, is more disappointing than in previous weeks. Charbonnet's short-yardage excellence and red zone brilliance are what the team has missed. Many thought he would help the 3-3 team in Week 7. That isn't happening.

Also concerning is Nick Emmanwori being listed as questionable with a hip issue. He might play, of course, but he is one of the players who could be important in stopping Walker's great run at the start of 2026. The severity of the hip issue he has now is unknown.

The odd part is that Macdonald gave zero details on when Emmanwori's injury happened, other than saying it happened on Friday. He wouldn't even say if the injury happened during practice. The answer was frustrating.

Macdonald also said Drake Thomas and Chazz Surratt would be out, but that is expected. Neither practiced this week, and both missed Week 6. Surratt is a quality special teams contributor, but is replaceable. Thomas's starting inside linebacker spot will once again be taken by Tyrice Knight.

The positive part is that right guard Anthony Bradford will return. His presence has been missed in the rushing attack. 12s should expect to see an uptick in performance from that part of the offense, even without Jadarian Price (still on IR) and Zach Charbonnet. Bradford can open a hole or two that backups Beau Stephens and Christian Haynes couldn't.
