Now at 6-2, the Seattle Seahawks also share a division with the 6-2 Los Angeles Rams and 6-3 San Francisco 49ers, who are both good clubs and are good enough to win the division this year. Seattle is clearly trying to close this thing out, as they traded for receiver Rashid Shaheed on Tuesday to add to a position of strength.
What Seattle does well is throw the ball down the field, as Sam Darnold leads the NFL in yards per attempt and yards per completion. Shaheed should only help that type of thing get even better, forcing opposing secondaries to be at their best.
However, this team could be running the ball better, and GM John Schneider absolutely knows that. Well, after the Shaheed trade, their next move is painfully obvious.
The Seattle Seahawks must now at a right guard to cap-off what could be a perfect deadline
The elephant in the room has been Anthony Bradford occupying the right guard spot, as he is simply a subpar player at an important position, and with how well-balanced and, frankly, excellent this team is, not trying to seek an upgrade form Bradford would be a bad idea.
Seattle averages just 3.7 yards per carry, which is the second-worst mark in the NFL. They have rushed for just 831 yards, which ranks as the ninth-worst in the league. In my opinion, it's not about a lack of talent in the backfield, but it's about an offensive line that could use an upgrade.
The Seahawks should see if Wyatt Teller or Joel Bitonio are available. Both guards are free agents following the 2025 NFL Season and on the Cleveland Browns. Both players have also been rumored a bit to be on the trade block for the right price.
It would be a smart idea for Schneider to call up Browns' GM Andrew Berry to see if a late-round pick could seal the deal for one of them. While Seattle's offense will be just fine without a guard upgrade, it would make a ton of sense to keep the foot on the gas.
