The Seattle Seahawks already knew they would be taking on a familiar foe in the Divisional Round of the 2025 playoffs. The San Francisco 49ers will be traveling to Seattle for the game. But the teams learned on Monday night that the game would kick off on Saturday at 5 pm PT.

San Francisco appeared miffed that they had to play on Sunday in the Wild Card Round after traveling to play the Eagles in Philadelphia, and then had a short week to play the Seahawks. The truth is that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan likely knows better than he lets on.

Shanahan's 49ers have been the top seed in the NFC previously, just as Seattle is this year, and San Francisco knows that the NFL normally has the NFC and AFC top seeds play on Saturdays. This is one of the perks of being the top seed and gives the team an extra day of rest before the conference champion games.

What you need to know about the Seattle Seahawks versus the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round

After all, the top seed in the AFC is the Denver Broncos, and they will also be playing on Saturday. They will be part of the first game of a doubleheader and will face the Buffalo Bills. That contest will kick off at 1:30 pm PT and will be broadcast on CBS.

As for the Seahawks, their game against the 49ers will be on FOX. Seattle will host the game at Lumen Field.

Seahawks versus 49ers game details:

  • Date and time: Saturday, January 17 at 5 pm PT
  • Where: Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington
  • Channel: FOX (FOX 13 in Seattle)
  • Broadcast crew: Presumably, Joe Buck (play-by-play), Troy Aikman (analysis), Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge (sideline reporters)

In terms of health, the Seattle Seahawks are in far better shape than the San Francisco 49ers. San Fran lost star tight end George Kittle to an Achilles tendon tear in the Wild Card Round. He will miss the rest of the playoffs as well as likely much of next season. The 49ers will have left tackle Trent Williams available, and he wasn't when the teams played one another in Week 18.

As for Seattle, left tackle Charles Cross will return, as well as starting safety Coby Bryant. Let's hope injuries are one more advantage Seattle has that leads to a victory and a place in the NFC Championship game the following weekend. They will play either the Los Angeles Rams or the Chicago Bears.
