The Seattle Seahawks have announced their practice squad for 2025. At least for now, it's stacked. It isn't likely to stay that way, as any team can poach a practice squad player at any point during the season. Providing that they place their new acquisition on their 53-man roster.
So while some of the names on Seattle's list are going to put a warm, happy glow on the faces of the 12s, don't expect them all to last. I can see three of these guys getting plucked away before the digital ink is even dry. Not that that's a thing, but you know what I mean. I'll be shocked if they're still with the Seahawks by Week 1.
The basics of the practice squad: Seattle can have 17 players, as long as one is in the league's International Pathway Program. The Seahawks had that guy, and yes, he made the squad. 10 have to be either rookies or in their second year in the league, while the other six can have unlimited experience. So don't be surprised to see some players plucked away.
The Seahawks initial practice squad has some major studs
A few of the names here surprised me, not so much about who they are, but what position they play. running backs Damian Martinez and Jacardia Wright, I get. But three running backs just surprised me. Yes, I know Seattle only has three on the active roster, and there are injury concerns surrounding Kenneth Walker. But Robbie Ouzts will find some carries, and you can always find a back during the season if you need one.
One player's absence doesn't surprise me, although it does sadden me a bit. Shaquill Griffin is not on the squad. I would have loved to see him make it, but he looked a step too slow throughout the final game versus the Packers. I definitely like seeing four nose tackles on the squad. Quinton Bohana and Brandon Pili make my heart happy.
A few more notable names: Jerrick Reed II jumps off the page for me. I seriously doubt he'll make it to Week 1 for the Seahawks, though. Surely, other teams could use a guided missile on their roster. The same can be said for Jamie Sheriff. He is another absolute must for the Seahawks to keep around. Naturally, he may well be the first to be snapped up.
