The Seattle Seahawks had about three days to fully celebrate their Super Bowl LX victory until the reality of the business of the NFL set in. General manager John Schneider understood several key players might leave in free agency, and that is exactly what happened.

Just a month after winning a title, Seattle lost Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker and others. They got paid a good amount to go elsewhere, and good for them. They earned it. But the team had to work to find players just as productive to replace them.

In years past, Schneider made a habit of waiting in hopes of finding hidden gems in free agency. That trend continued in 2026. While not being heavily involved in the signing of big-name free agents might be frustrating for some, it has been the Schneider way, and he's been very successful doing things his way.

Seattle Seahawks 2026 free agency tracker: All the moves

Seattle Seahawks who have signed or been re-signed:

  • Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed re-signs for three years and a maximum of $51 million
  • Corberback Josh Jobe re-signed for three years and a max of $24 million

Jobe coming back isn't overly surprising. On a team of stars, Jobe was likely undervalued by other teams, but the Seahawks knew what they had with the cornerback. He is very good in coverage and excellent against the run, and should remain so for the foreseeable future.

The more surprising player to agree to terms to return was Shaheed. Maybe Seattle offered him just enough to want to stay in the Pacific Northwest, and he has been open about loving the city and fans. His ability to beat defensive backs deep will be important, but his kick and punt return prowess cannot be replaced.

Seattle Seahawks that are leaving in free agency or have been released:

  • Edge rusher Boye Mafe agrees to terms with the Cincinnati Bengals for three years and a maximum of $60 million
  • Safety Coby Bryant agrees to terms with the Chicago Bears for three years and a maximum of $40 million
  • Running back Kenneth Walker agrees to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs for three years and a maximum of $45 million

The first day of free agency was fairly brutal for Seattle, but not unexpected for longtime fans of the team. John Schneider historically has not made many splash moves early in free agency, 2025 withstanding (the team agreed to terms with quarterback Sam Darnold fairly quickly).

With Bryant, the Seahawks have Ty Okada on the roster, and he appears to be a natural replacement for the new Bears player. Seattle didn't immediately have on-roster replacements for Mafe or Walker, and will obviously need to find the answers to losing their production.

Seattle Seahawks who have been traded:

  • None yet

Maybe John Schneider won't make any trades during free agency, as Seattle has a lot of players who could simply leave in free agency. A trade before the NFL draft wouldn't be surprising, however, as the Seahawks would probably like to have more than their four selections in 2026.
