Seattle Seahawks' answer to Myles Garrett couldn't be clearer

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider isn't afraid to make a splash trade. He's done so in the past by acquiring left tackle Duane Brown, edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney, and defensive back Jamal Adams. Last season, the team added wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed, and the deal helped the team win a Super Bowl.

Schneider, though, won't make a move because he feels forced to. The Los Angeles Rams might have dealt for edge rusher Myles Garrett, but the Seahawks GM will feel strongly enough in how his team's roster is built to do an immediate reaction. That said, if he eventually does, might Las Vegas Raider edge rusher Maxx Crosby be a player Seattle tries to add?

Crosby to Seattle would seem almost obvious. Schneider has reportedly asked what it might take to acquire the elite edge rusher, but now he knows for certain after Crosby was almost sent to the Baltimore Ravens this offseason.

Seattle Seahawks could chase Maxx Crosby in another NFL blockbuster deal this summer

Baltimore was going to give Vegas a first-round pick in 2026 and another in 2027, but the Ravens said that Crosby failed his physical and reneged on the agreement they had with the Raiders. Of note, the edge rusher was still rehabbing from knee surgery earlier this offseason, which made the Ravens' reason for backing out even stranger.

Still, the entire NFL then knew what Las Vegas would want in return for the nearly 29-year-old Crosby, and the price was high. In comparison, the Rams gave the Cleveland Browns a first-round draft pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, and a third-rounder in 2029, plus, and this is important, ascending edge rusher Jared Verse.

Should the Seattle Seahawks offer the same kind of package, minus a player of the quality of Verse, as Seattle recently extended their own young edge rusher, Derick Hall, to the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby, at least John Schneider has the draft picks to do so.

Based on projections of free agents lost this offseason, and the Minnesota Vikings hiring Nolan Teasley from Seattle to be their new general manager, the Seahawks have a projected 12 draft picks in 2027 alone. Schneider could send a first-round choice, a third-round pick in 2027, and another high-round selection in 2028 for Crosby.

After all, the Ravens weren't sending a player as part of their move to acquire Crosby, only draft picks. Perhaps Seattle could do the same.

Plus, the assumption is that even after the Seahawks signed free agent Dante Fowler, Seattle could still look to add another edge rusher. A team cannot have too many good ones. Assuming Maxx Crosby is still available, and he may no longer be, to answer the Rams and Myles Garrett trade, John Schneider could make his own splash by getting the Vegas defender.
