Is he correct?

The Seattle Seahawks have a bye week this week. That is one of the advantages of being the top seed in the NFC. Home-field advantage throughout the playoffs leading up to the Super Bowl is another. Other teams have to play, though, while Seattle rests.

Which might lead some to question whether the Seahawks will watch the Wild Card playoff games. It isn't like the players won't see a lot of film on whichever team Seattle plays in the Divisional round. Some players might simply want a mental break from the sport for a weekend.

Not wide receiver Cooper Kupp. He will likely watch some of the action with his sons, and his sons will have questions about what is happening on the field. To deliver that information, though, Kupp will not rely on the color analysts on the specific broadcasts. This is especially true of Cris Collinsworth.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp lays it bare how he feels about Cris Collinsworth

To be fair, Collinsworth was a good receiver in his career and has been a staple of football broadcasts for years. He isn't in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he was inducted into the Sportscaster Hall of Fame in 2023. The analyst now works with the top team during games that NBC shows.

Still, he does grate many fans. He is almost too "Aw shucks" at times, and appears on the verge of a giggle many times. He might not laugh much, but he doesn't give added weight to many games. That's his style, and he's made a good living from it.

Kupp doesn't mind muting him during games he watches with his sons, though. While speaking to the media ahead of the Seahawks' bye week, the wide receiver broke down why.

"The color commentators, analysts?" Kupp said, while adding, potentially tongue-in-cheek that analyst have a "hard" job. "I’ve got to mute that thing sometimes, 'Boys sit down. Let me explain to you what’s really happening here.' Cris Collinsworth, I love you. '(But) let me explain what happened here.'"

Of course, having a father who has been as accomplished as Cooper Kupp has been is a good way to learn the sport of football. He has physical skill, of course, but he has been as productive as he has been because he has an extremely high football IQ. He knows what he sees, and he knows it quickly.

Heck, one might even think that the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver could become a broadcast analyst after his career is over. Based on his recent comments about Cris Collinsworth, though, that job doesn't seem to be something that Cooper Kupp would want.
