The Seattle Seahawks appear primed to make another push for the postseason in 2026 and may have a solid chance of trying to defend their Super Bowl title from last year. The team will need to be lucky enough to have the kind of health it did in 2025, but if that happens, the team will win a lot of games.
To help Seattle do that, some players who are playing on their next contracts will need to be quite good. That would be a win-win for the team and the player. The Seahawks would succeed, and the player would benefit financially next offseason when looking for a new contract.
General manager John Schneider has already extended several players this year, and the players below could be re-signed to long-term deals. If they fail, however, they would likely need to try to get signed by another team, and likely for not a huge amount of money.
4 Seattle Seahawks players playing for the next contracts in 2026
Edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu
Nwosu has been as good a human being as a player in Seattle, and that matters. The Seahawks like to keep people employed in the organization who fit the culture, one built on respect. The edge rusher isn't yet 30 years old, but what might hurt his free agency is that in 2023 and 2024, he only appeared in 12 games total.
Last season, he played in 16 games and had seven sacks and seven tackles for loss. When healthy, he can be a transformative player, one who could play his home games in the Pacific Northwest for quite some time. But he needs to stay healthy again in 2026, or Seattle and other teams might be a bit scared to give him a long-term, expensive contract.
Kicker Jason Myers
Myers has helped form one of the NFL's best special teams groups for the Seahawks for years. He has been efficient with Seattle since 2019 and made the Pro Bowl in 2022. He was terrific in 2025, helping the team win enough close games to win a championship. He was particularly good in the postseason.
This preseason, however, he's been bad. He missed two of his five field goal attempts and two of his four extra-point attempts. If he were nearly any other kicker, the team might already be looking elsewhere for a replacement. If he continues his trend from the preseason, he won't have to worry about getting paid by the Seahawks in 2027 because he probably won't last the season this year.
Right guard Anthony Bradford
As much as many fans have complained about Seattle's offensive line (though not as much last year, when the group was pretty good), the player who specifically drew the most ire was Bradford. He does one thing decently, and everything else is not so good.
Bradford is big and powerful, and if he takes on his defender head-on, he has the advantage. If a defender is quick, he struggles. He is going to start at right guard again in 2026, and if he struggles, the team might have his built-in replacement in Beau Stephens. If Bradford has his best season, 12s might be stuck watching him for a few more years.
Running back Zach Charbonnet
Charbonnet might be looking at a one-year deal in free agency next year, no matter what happens in 2026. His issue is that he is coming off a knee injury from the playoffs last season, and his timeline for return isn't extremely clear. He will be on the physically unable to perform list to begin the season, meaning he will miss at least the first four games.
Once he can play again, he could split reps at RB1, presumably with rookie Jadarian Price, but if Price is excelling before Charbonnet comes back, then the Notre Dame product is going to be the Seattle Seahawks' starter for many seasons to come. Charbonnet would be his backup, though he has been fine with that in Seattle to begin his career.
Teams, even the Seahawks, are going to want to see how productive Charbonnet can be when he comes back. If he struggles, his asking price is reduced in 2027. If he picks up where he left off last year, the kind of form that allowed him to score 12 rushing touchdowns last season, he could be getting close to $10 million from some team per season.
