He will be needed.

The Seattle Seahawks are beginning to struggle greatly at the back end of their defense with injuries. The inside linebacker group might get healthier in Week 13 with the potential return of Ernest Jones IV and Tyrice Knight. The safety group is in rough shape, however.

One fan favorite appears to be returning to Seattle, at least as far as the practice squad goes, and might need to help the safety group immediately. Practice squads, of course, are really just an extension of the active roster. Players can be elevated as many as three times before having to be added to the 53-man roster.

Quandre Diggs might have a chance at that. He is returning to Seattle after playing for the Tennessee Titans for the last couple of seasons. He was surprisingly released by Tennessee recently and has been teamless since. No longer. The safety, who three times had at least four interceptions in a season for the Seahawks, seems to be back after posting on social media that he is "coming home."

Seattle Seahawks reportedly bring fan favorite Quandre Diggs back

This implies that Ty Okada, who has been filling in for Julian Love as Love has spent much of the season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, might be done for the season, or most of it. Okada hurt his oblique in Week 12 and is definitely a candidate for IR. That would keep him out at least four games.

Love might not be ready to return either. He is eligible to, but head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters this week that the team isn't going to rush Love back. Without Okada and Love, the Seahawks are left with rookie Nick Emmanwori and veterans Coby Bryant and D'Anthony Bell.

Diggs could see immediate playing time if Love remains out a bit longer. Has the former Titan lost a step compared to his prime years of 2019 through 2022? Sure, but he hasn't completely fallen apart. With Tennessee this season, he had a solid quarterback rating allowed of 90.3, and was good in run support.

Plus, Quandre Diggs is a fantastic teammate and will be great in the locker room. Not only did Seattle Seahawks fans like him, but so did his fellow players.

He also has a high football IQ and knows how to position himself well. Diggs should be a solid fit in head coach Mike Macdonald's defense, and should be a player the Seattle Seahawks can count on in a pinch. That might come as soon as Week 13.
