In a reminder that free agency is not completely done, one former Seattle Seahawks fan favorite signed with a different team on Tuesday, just a month before the 2025 regular season begins. For 12s, this means that maybe the franchise can still sign a player such as Jadeveon Clowney. He makes for a good fit in Mike Macdonald's defense.
But while Clowney stays a free agent, Quandre Diggs doesn't. The safety played for Seattle from a part of 2019 through 2023, and during that time made three Pro Bowls and had 18 interceptions. While the defense overall was nowhere close to Legion of Boom quality, Diggs was individually great.
He was also a good person to have in the locker room and a pleasant interaction for fans. He was simply too expensive to keep around after the 2023 season and was released. He was signed by the Tennessee Titans last offseason, but was not immediately re-signed by Tennessee.
Former Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs joins Tyler Lockett with the Tennessee Titans
That has changed. Not only has Diggs agreed to go back to the Titans, but he will re-team with Seahawks legend Tyler Lockett. Lockett was released by Seattle this offseason, but found a home in Nashville.
While the Titans hope that Diggs and Lockett will help them win games, it definitely means that Tennessee should have a good culture in the locker room. They will need that as they expect to start a rookie quarterback, Cam Ward, in 2025.
Tennessee has also made smart moves since drafting Ward. Adding Lockett gives the young quarterback a veteran presence who is a safe receiver, but also a wise voice to gain knowledge from. Quandre Diggs is two years removed from being a good safety, but he is also Cam Ward's cousin. There is no question that one reason to bring Diggs back was that he is related to Ward.
In an odd offseason, 12s have watched as former players have tended to collect on two other teams. The Tennessee Titans will have Tyler Lockett and Quandre Diggs, while the Las Vegas Raiders will have head coach Pete Carroll, quarterback Geno Smith, and safety Jamal Adams.
While Seattle Seahawks fans might be conflicted to cheer for Smith and Adams with the Raiders, 12s should have no qualms about rooting for the Titans. Quandre Diggs and Tyler Lockett are good people who deserve praise. As long as the Titans aren't playing Seattle, there is no reason to give them that.
