In the 21st century, the Seattle Seahawks have finished last in their division only once. That was in 2021, the last year that Russell Wilson was QB1 for the team. The Arizona Cardinals, though, have finished last five times since 2018. In 2025, they finished nine games behind the third-place San Francisco 49ers.

In the coming season, the Cardinals are likely going to finish last once again. Their quarterback situation was a mess and bad, and veteran Jacoby Brissett is already choosing not to show up to voluntary workouts while hoping to have more of his salary guaranteed next season.

That's the case even though his won-loss record was 1-11 last season. While that isn't always a true indication of the quality of a quarterback, it is important to note that Brissett is 20-45 for his career.

Seattle Seahawks' NFC West "rival", the Arizona Cardinals, are already falling apart

He isn't the only unhappy player. Edge rusher Josh Sweat, who had 12 sacks last season for the Cardinals, also isn't at voluntary team activities. Not that he has to show up, of course, but those who aren't at team facilities are few throughout the NFL. Being present means you are supporting your teammates.

A healthy player doesn't really have any excuses to not be at workouts other than to imply they don't want to really be a part of the organization. According to Cardinals reporter Kyle Odegard, Sweat has been unhappy in Arizona for "a while." It's important to note that Sweat has only played one season for the Cardinals so far.

The edge rusher is also getting paid extremely well to be a part of the franchise. He signed a four-year deal with Arizona last offseason that gives him as much as $76.4 million. $41 million of that is guaranteed. His average annual salary is $19 million.

For Josh Sweat not to be at Arizona Cardinals camp while getting paid more money than most human beings will ever see says a lot about the culture of the team and how much the players want to be involved. If nothing else, Seattle Seahawks fans should be happy they haven't chosen to follow the worst team in the NFC West.

Once again, the Seahawks can likely count on two wins next season against a team in Arizona that should be relegated, if the NFL allowed such a thing. The last time the Cardinals beat Seattle was in November 2021, as the Seahawks have won the last nine meetings. Some team has to be bad in the NFC West, and Arizona is that team.
