Kenneth Walker III is at a high point in his career. He completed an incredible playoff run by winning Super Bowl MVP with one of the best performances of his time with the Seattle Seahawks. On the biggest stage in football, he showed the rest of the NFL that he's capable of carrying an offense to victory.
You couldn't dream up a better time to enter free agency. The veteran running back certainly earned himself a few million dollars with his recent performances, pushing himself to the top of the free agent running back market.
He is sure to have a few suitors this spring. If he does choose to leave Seattle, Seahawks fans would hate to see him go to one projected landing spot. FanSided.com's Jake Beckman recently predicted that Walker would sign with the New York Jets. He could make plenty of money there, but he would erase any chances he has of returning to the Super Bowl.
Seahawks' Kenneth Walker predicted to sign with the Jets in free agency
In a recent article, Beckman ranked the top upcoming free agents in the NFL, pairing each player with a potential landing spot.
After connecting Walker with the Jets, he said, "If you’re the Jets, are you going to spend money on a running back who is both a good pass catcher and a good runner? No, because you don’t have a quarterback who can throw the ball. Kenneth Walker is a great pure runner, but a very below-average pass catcher. It’s a perfect match… unless you’re Walker, who would be going from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows."
Seahawks general manager John Schneider should do everything he can to keep Walker in Seattle before letting him hit the open market. But if he has to go somewhere else, fans would hope to see him land somewhere with at least an ounce of competency.
The Jets are in one of the worst positions in the NFL, without a clear direction moving forward. Their offensive line is solid, but without a quarterback to lead the unit, they don't seem to have much of a chance at a playoff appearance in the near future.
While it may be better than having to compete against him in key games, fans would hate to see Walker go from the incredible peak of winning Super Bowl MVP to settling for such a shaky situation.
