The Seattle Seahawks rewarded Jaxon Smith-Njigba for his efforts so far in his career by signing him to a massive extension worth $168 million. The new deal makes JSN the highest-paid receiver in the league (for now, at least), and Seahawks fans are perfectly fine with it.
Somebody else who's surprisingly okay with it is 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir, who didn't hesitate to dunk on the move. Lenoir shared a post that detailed how successful the Niners cornerback has been at slowing down Smith-Njigba on his Instagram story.
The post explained how JSN was held to zero yards in both the Week 1 and Week 18 games when Lenoir was covering him. It also stated that Smith-Njigba had just one catch for four yards in the divisional round matchup. Clearly, as frustrating as this is for Seahawks fans, Lenoir knows how to slow down the electric receiver and that's not easy to do.
Deommodore Lenoir claps back at Seattle Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba after huge contract
This isn't a new thing between these two. Lenoir previously poked at Smith-Njigba on his Instagram following a game where he shut him down. He clearly enjoys taking his victory laps, and hey, to his credit, it's hard to keep JSN in check, so it makes sense that he'd be celebrating doing so on multiple occasions.
Smith-Njigba might not be putting together big games against the 49ers' Lenoir and the 49ers, but he has the last laugh when it's all said and done. His Seahawks are Super Bowl champions while Lenoir's 49ers fell short of accomplishing that goal in the 2023 season. They were also knocked out of the playoffs this year by Seattle.
Lenoir can keep talking smack, that's fine. After all, he's earned the right to do that by playing well against Smith-Njigba and keeping him in check. The good news is that JSN will have further fuel to motivate him when these two square off again and let's hope that next time, Jaxon Smith-Njigba gets to have some fun.
