Seahawks fans won't like where this former Seattle star could land

Offer him a home.

Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney only spent one season with the Seattle Seahawks, but he was quite good. A few years later, Clowney would be a star in Mike Macdonald's Baltimore Ravens defense. Macdonald is now a successful head coach for Seattle, and Clowney could end up with the Green Bay Packers.

Ideally, the Seahawks would be a potential suitor for the player in 2026. Clowney had 8.5 sacks with the Dallas Cowboys last season, had a terrific pass-rush win-rate, and has been elite against the run during his entire career.

This is an area that both Seattle and the Packers could do with some help. Green Bay has Micah Parsons, but he is coming back from an ACL injury and likely won't return until mid-October at the earliest. A player they hope has a breakout season, Lukas Van Ness, hasn't truly established himself.

Former Seattle Seahawks star Jadeveon Clowney would make sense for the Green Bay Packers

Green Bay is a good team with Super Bowl aspirations, but the loss of Parsons is a big one. Adding Clowney, even if it is just for one season, would definitely help the Packers' defense and keep their hopes for a deep postseason run alive.

Moreover, once Parsons does return from injury, an edge rush group that includes him and Jadeveon Clowney would be a formidable one for any playoff opponent. That could be the Seahawks, as the two NFC teams could easily be in a position to battle for a spot in the title game.

While Seattle lost Boye Mafe in free agency, the team signed veteran Dante Fowler to help replace him. The issue is that while Fowler is a good speed rusher when pressuring quarterbacks, he's not been very efficient at stopping the run. As Clowney is available for any team to sign, Seattle should make an offer because it knows how good Clowney is as a run-stopper.

Fowler shapes up to be more of a rotation piece on passing downs. Clowney is the kind of defender who can play all three downs and do so at a high level. Plus, signing Clowney and having him be a piece in Mike Macdonald's defense, a pairing which has previously proven to be successful, would also keep the edge rusher from signing with a rival of the Seattle Seahawks.

Ultimately, it's a win-win for general manager John Schneider and his team. The alternative of facing Clowney with, potentially, the Green Bay Packers, is far worse, and not something any fan of the Seahawks should want to see.
